Family legal issues, like divorce or child custody, can be stressful and confusing. Whether you’re ending a marriage, figuring out who gets custody of your kids, or dividing property, it’s important to have an experienced family lawyer to guide you. At our Houston firm, we understand how personal these matters are and work hard to help you through the process with care and understanding.

Finding The Best Family Law Attorney For You

Family law covers many different issues that affect families. In Texas, family law is governed by state laws and decisions made by the courts (“common law”). This means that the laws can change, sometimes frequently. Our Houston family lawyers are up-to-date on the latest legal changes and ready to help you with the following:

  • Divorce: Divorce can be emotionally and financially tough, whether you’ve been married just a year or two or several decades. We’ll help you protect your rights and make sure the process is as smooth as possible.
  • Child Custody and Support: Child custody disputes can be hard on families. Texas courts focus on what’s best for the child when deciding custody. We’ll work with you to come up with a plan that’s fair and in your child’s best interest.
  • Dividing Property and Assets: Texas is a community property state, which means that things you and your spouse own together get divided equally in a divorce. There are some exceptions, though, and we can help make sure you get your fair share.
  • Spousal Support: If spousal support (sometimes called alimony) is part of your case, we’ll help make sure the payment is fair—whether you’re the one receiving or paying it.
  • Changing Court Orders: Sometimes, the situation changes after a divorce or custody order is issued. If you need to change a court order because of new circumstances, we can help.
  • Paternity and Adoption: If you need to establish paternity or want to adopt a child, we can guide you through the legal process and help make sure everything goes smoothly.

Many family cases involve several of these — when you’re getting a divorce, you’ll likely be dividing property, making child custody decisions, and determining whether you’ll pay (or receive) spousal support.
